Helping Your Hearing!

Our Scientist performed the "Helping Your Hearing" experiment for Pilot A. She secretly put cotton balls, pennies, and cough drops into three separate dark container. Then she shook the items to see if the class could guess what was inside; only the Scientist knew! We had a couple friends who guessed pennies, but the cough drop and cotton balls were difficult to identify just based on using our hearing! Great job, Scientist!

A Special Guest

Today ANOTHER Miss. Lacy came to read to Pilot A. She read Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Christmas by, Joy Cowley and Elizabeth Fuller. Thank you Miss Lacy for getting us into the holiday spirit!

Mystery Reader!

A big thank you to our Mystery Reader, who read Loren Long's, Otis and the Tornado.

Milk Rainbow!

Today our Scientist performed the "Milk Rainbow" experiment. He added food coloring to milk and showed us that it takes dish soap to break up the fatty oils in milk. Once those oils broke up, the food coloring moved into a milk rainbow! Great job Scientist.

iPads!

Mrs. McCormick used iPads today in Language Arts! She practiced the Calvert letter formation with some of the letters we have learned. The students did a great job starting their upper case letters at the top. Way to go!

Scientist of the Week!

Our Scientist performed "The Nose Knows" experiment! First we put a blindfold on our Scientist and had her smell vanilla . Then we tried to trick her by confusing her sense of taste and smell. We gave her an apple to taste. We weren't able to trick her because she guessed it was an apple. Usually, when someone smells vanilla, they can't taste the apple because the smell of vanilla is stronger than the apple.

Getting Ready for Thanksgiving!

We are very busy in Pilot A while we get ready for Thanksgiving! We decorated our door with "I am thankful" turkey feathers. Most of our Pilot A friends are thankful for their friends and family, but some are thankful for Legos and even their bunk bed!  We read The Very First Thanksgiving by Rhonda Greene,  and we enjoyed graphing our favorite Thanksgiving character. Yesterday, we used watercolors to paint turkeys!
