Patterns and Shapes

Today in math we worked with iPads. We played with the app "monkey rows" where the students had to pick the next shape in the pattern. We also practiced creating shapes using the app "doodle buddy". The students did a great job making sure the sides of each shape were straight.  

 

Squares and Rectangles

We are learning about different shapes in math. Today, we compared a rectangle and a triangle. We found out that they are similar because they both have four corners and four sides, and that they are different because a rectangle's sides are not equal like a square, a rectangle has two long sides and two short sides. We also created rectangles and squares using marshmallows and toothpicks. After we made the shapes we went on a shape hunt around our classroom. Great job, math friends!
