Holiday Party!

We had a great time today during our holiday party. We ate delicious treats, listened to a fun story, and created a reindeer puppet! We even had some time to play pass the snowman. Thank you to all of our parent helpers!

Liquid Layers

Today our scientist performed the "Liquid Layers" experiment. She performed the experiment twice! The first time she filled a clear cup with a bunch of different ingredients in a random order. As a class we didn't notice any layers. The second time the scientist placed the maple syrup in first, the glycerol in second, the blue-colored water in third, the cooking oil in fourth, and the green-colored alcohol in fifth. We noticed that the liquids stayed separate! This was because each liquid is actually floating on top of the more dense liquid directly beneath it! Great job, scientist!

A Very Special Mystery Reader!

Mrs. Reinhardt surprised Pilot A with a visit! We were all so excited to see her! She read a letter from Santa which talked all about The Elf on the Shelf. Santa said the Elf reports back to him each night with who was naughty and who was nice. It looks like Pilot A will all get good reports from our Elf, Christmas. We miss you Mrs. Reinhardt, thank you for visiting!

Kooky Colors

Today our Scientist performed the "Kooky Colors" science experiment. She taught us all about chromatography! Our Scientist filled a pan with water and placed three paper strips with different color ink inside the pan. The water ended up travelling up the paper at different speeds. The blue ink won! Thank you for teaching us about chromatography, Scientist!

Hanukkah

We had a special 6th Age visitor talk to the Pilot class about Hanukkah! He explained his families traditions and took questions from the Pilot class. He told his friends that there are 8 candles on the menorah and the candle in the middle is the "helper" candle. Our 6th Age friend also shared with the Pilot class that latkes are his favorite Hanukkah treat!
